COURTESY VISIT BY THE ABIA STATE BRANCH OF THE NIGERIA UNION OF JOURNALISTS TO RHEMA UNIVERSITY NIGERIA, ABA
On Wednesday February 6, 2019, the new ExecutiveMembers of the AbiaState Branch of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) which came into office on October 31, 2018 visited the University on a courtesy call on the Vice-Chancellor, Professor O. C. Onwudike.
In the NUJ team were:

Unavoidably absent in the NUJ team were MessrsEffiong and Nwokedi of Daily Trust and Radio Nigeria Network respectively.
On hand to receive the visitors were: Professor O. C. Onwudike – Vice-Chancellor,
C. U. Iheaka – Registrar, S. A. Orji – University Librarian, E. O. Ezennwa – Head of Bursary, Professor O. C. Nwaorgu – Dean, College of Management and Social Sciences, Dr. Uwaoma K. Uche – Coordinator, Mass Communication Programme and Ben Uchegbu – Principal Assistant Registrar (VC).
In his speech at the occasion, the NUJ Chairman said the visit was necessitated by the success recorded by the University in the accreditation of five (5) courses by the National Universities Commission. One of the courses accredited included Mass Communication. Continuing he sought the permission of the Vice-Chancellor for the NUJ to cover important University occasions, such as the Matriculation Ceremony. He eulogized the Vice-Chancellor for being educationally and media friendly and used the opportunity afforded by the visit to invite the University to the NUJ Press Week scheduled sometime in the year.
In his response the Vice-Chancellor, Professor O. C. Onwudike commended the Pressmen for the visit and for arriving the University on schedule. He solicited the support of the NUJ to the activities of the University so that the world would know what the University was doing. He informed the visitors that aside from Nursing Science, Human Anatomy, Human Physiology, Medical Laboratory Science and Marketing which were considered and approved by the Resource Evaluation Team of the National Universities Commission (NUC) in 2018, all other academic programmes of the University had been accredited by the NUC.
He further said that the permanent site of the University was under construction in Owerrinta and when completed the current take-off site would become the Medical School. He requested the NUJ to partner with the University to make her a great institution.
While on tour of the campus, the visitors inspected theworld-class facilities and marveled at what they saw especially the Modern R
hema Radio and Television Studios, Plasinated bodies and Specimens for the Medical school and the state-of-the-art Smart class.
At the end the Pressmen thanked the University Management for the very warm reception accorded them.
